Lesson
How does technology change us? It changes how we live, how we
learn, how we work, what we expect, and what we believe. 24-hour
news on TV changes how we view our world...as the printing press changed
what a "known fact" is by letting a wide audience share information.
Electricity and natural gas connected to our homes put door-to-door coal
vendors out of business. Glasses and contact lenses allowed myopic
people to escape lions and tigers to contribute to our gene pool.
Ships and trains allowed intermixing of genes by people from distant
villages. Our book
expands on these answers while this lesson focuses on how we depend on
electricity.
